Christmas Spirit floats into The Tivoli Concert Hall when the heartwarming holiday tale The Nutcracker returns for Christmas 2026. The story of The Nutcracker is a true classic, brimming with adventure and magic for young and old alike.
Tivoli’s classical family ballet takes place on Christmas Eve 1874 somewhere in Copenhagen. Clara’s family has invited prominent guests for dinner, and Clara receives a nutcracker as a Christmas gift. After an eventful evening Clara falls asleep and embarks on an adventurous and dangerous dream journey.
Through storm and snow she enters a snow-covered Tivoli, which magically transforms into a summer-warm fairy garden willed with dance and music, accompanied by Tivolis characters Harlequin, Columbine, Pierrot and the Nutcracker who has been brought to life.
Queen Margrethe II has created the sets and costumes for this beloved production, and Tivoli’s Ballet Director Peter Bo Bendixen has brought the dreams to life with his enchanting choreography. The music is provided by Tivoli Copenhagen Phil, who fill the Concert Hall with Tchaikovsky’s wonderful tones.

Age Recommendation
Recommended for ages 6 and up. All children are different, and we recommend that parents individually assess whether the story and themes of the performance are appropriate for their children. Children under 3 years old are not allowed at the performance.
Bars/Restaurants
The bars in The Concert Hall/The Glass Hall Theatre are open before the performance and during intermission. Beverages can be pre-ordered for the intermission before the performance starts. Additionally, there are plenty of opportunities to dine at one of Tivoli's many restaurants before the performance
